As part of Out North’s Fall 2019 Programing Schedule we present, “Rise of the DJ: How DJ’d Music Took Over the 21st Century”, a participatory installation within Extracurricular at the Anchorage Museum.
DJing is the artful blend of technology, concept and prerecorded music to deliver sounds that transform environments and express unique ideas that reach out across worlds, cultures, and time. From the mid-1930s on, DJing evolved into an expression of pure musical composition and improvisation, eventually becoming one of the first truly global music movements. Visitors are invited to learn the techniques of this global art form and express yourself through hands-on DJ Study Halls facilitated by local DJ’s Jacob Mattie and Fan Service (Ian Flores).
“Rise of the DJ” will be held within the Extracurricular Installation, an immersive audio-visual experience at the Anchorage Museum, October 18th-27th.
DJ Study Hall Dates/Times:
🔸 DJ Jacob Mattie: Saturday, Oct. 19th at 2 - 4PM
🔸 Fan Service (Ian Flores): Wednesday Oct. 23 from 4 - 6PM
